The Statenkwartier is a very nice neighborhood. One of the nicest, actually. Good shops. Safe and comfortable feeling even at night.Easy access to main tram routes and the Hague Centrum/Centraal Station. I technically live in Duinoord myself, but I'm on the edge of the Statenkwartier and I spend a lot of time in that area as well. It might depend on where you are working (if it's for the Tribunal, OPCW, ICC etc. this is a very close area to live in for them. My husband can walk to work in 10 minutes.) and if any children have particular school needs, but if you find something you can afford and like in this area, it is quite good. Just make sure if you have/need a car, what the parking arrangements or costs will be. Oh, and I've been told by quite a few people that the Statenkwartier is an area more frequently settled into by expats (those that aren't in Wassenaar), so it tends to accommodate and be more familiar with the needs of non-native folk. I've found that to be true to a certain extent. In fact, our landlord is one of the ones that prefers to rent to expats only, and from what the Estata Makelaar agent we worked with told us that is more common in Duinoord/Statenkwartier.
Hope that helps.
